The Types of Mundane Charts

Mundane Astrology uses several specialized chart types to understand world events and the destiny of nations.
Each chart serves a unique purpose — from analyzing the founding moment of a country to forecasting upcoming world trends through planetary cycles and solar ingresses.

The main types are:
1️⃣ Foundation Charts
2️⃣ Ingress Charts
3️⃣ Eclipse Charts
4️⃣ Conjunction Charts
5️⃣ Event and Crisis Charts

1️⃣ Foundation Charts (National or Founding Horoscopes)

A foundation chart represents the moment a nation, state, or institution officially begins. It is to a country what a birth chart is to a person.

Common foundation moments include:

  • Declaration of Independence
  • Constitutional Signing
  • Coronation or Inauguration of a Leader
  • Proclamation of a Republic or Revolution

Key Idea: The Ascendant shows the people’s character; the Sun represents leadership; the Moon reflects the emotional nature of the nation.

Examples:

  • United States: July 4, 1776, 17:10, Philadelphia — Sagittarius rising: idealistic and expansive.
  • France: September 22, 1792 — Libra Sun: diplomacy and balance.
  • India: August 15, 1947, 00:00, New Delhi — Cancer rising: emotional depth and spirituality.

How It’s Used:
Astrologers track transits and progressions to the national chart to forecast changes in economy, politics, and public sentiment.

2️⃣ Ingress Charts (Solar Ingress Astrology)

An ingress chart is cast for the exact moment the Sun enters a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn), marking seasonal and political cycles.
The Aries Ingress is the most important, representing the start of the astrological year and giving insights into national trends for the coming 12 months.

Interpretation Rules:

  • If the Ascendant is fixed → chart lasts for the whole year.
  • If mutable → valid for 6 months.
  • If cardinal → valid for 3 months.

Example:

  • Aries Ingress 2023 for the UK showed Mars in the 10th house — signaling political conflict and leadership change.

Ingress charts are excellent for predicting economic cycles, natural disasters, or political shifts within a nation.

3️⃣ Eclipse Charts (Solar and Lunar Eclipses)

Eclipses are potent triggers of global events.
They represent moments of revelation, crisis, and redirection that affect both nations and individuals.

Solar Eclipses often mark changes in leadership, economy, or national identity.
Lunar Eclipses reflect emotional upheaval, protests, or public reaction.

Example:

  • The August 1999 Solar Eclipse in Leo coincided with global leadership transitions and geopolitical tension.
  • The June 2020 Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius occurred during global protests and ideological divisions.

Astrologers also analyze where the eclipse shadow falls — regions under the path often experience heightened activity or transformation.

4️⃣ Conjunction Charts (Planetary Cycles)

Every major conjunction between outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) marks a new historical phase.
These charts are “birth maps” of long-term global trends — political, cultural, or technological.

Examples:

  • Jupiter–Saturn (2020, Aquarius): beginning of the Air Era — digital societies, innovation, social networks.
  • Saturn–Pluto (2020, Capricorn): pandemic, power centralization, restructuring of authority.
  • Uranus–Neptune (1993, Capricorn): global internet and ideological reformation.

Each conjunction chart is used as a reference frame for decades, especially when outer planets later activate those points again.

5️⃣ Event and Crisis Charts

Sometimes, astrologers cast a chart for the exact time of an important event — an earthquake, war declaration, election, or coup.
These are known as event charts and help to understand immediate causes and likely outcomes.

Example:

  • World Trade Center Attack (Sept 11, 2001): Mars near the Ascendant, Saturn in the 9th → aggression and ideological conflict.
  • Global Financial Crash (Sept 2008): Saturn–Uranus opposition on the 2nd–8th house axis → economic collapse and restructuring.

Event charts show how a nation or the world responds to crisis moments — they highlight the energy signature of history in motion.

Summary

Each chart type offers a distinct lens:

  • Foundation Charts: identity and destiny
  • Ingress Charts: yearly forecasts
  • Eclipse Charts: crisis and change
  • Conjunction Charts: long cycles
  • Event Charts: sudden turning points

Together, these charts build the analytical structure for all Mundane Astrology interpretations.
