What is Astrocartography?

Astrocartography is a branch of astrology that maps your natal chart onto the Earth. It shows where planetary energies are strongest around the world and how they influence your life depending on location.

The technique was developed and popularized by Jim Lewis in the 1970s. By projecting your birth chart onto a world map, lines are created for each planet (the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc.) showing where that planet’s energy is emphasized. These lines indicate places where you may feel more supported, challenged, or inspired depending on the planetary symbolism.

For example:

  • Sun line: Places where you feel visible, confident, and authentic.
  • Moon line: Places that bring emotional sensitivity, comfort, or family focus.
  • Venus line: Places where love, beauty, and pleasure are emphasized.
  • Saturn line: Locations that may feel restrictive but push you toward responsibility and discipline.

Astrocartography helps people answer questions such as:

  • “Where will I feel most at home?”
  • “Which city is best for my career?”
  • “Where could I experience challenges or growth?”

This tool is often used when considering relocation, studying abroad, traveling, or even choosing the best place for retirement. It does not replace your natal chart interpretation but adds another layer of insight by showing how your cosmic blueprint interacts with geography.
